BIG BANG THEORY
Q I am a BBQ newbie but have become fairly handy with my four burner trolley
bbq with hood. I have been moving it indoors after use/cleaning but would
prefer to leave it outside. I bought a cover which seems to do the job but
I'm concerned about the direct sun on the gas bottle all day. Are the gas
bottles designed to cope with this kind of heat? Am I just being paranoid,
or will it explode and blow the side of the house in one hot summer day not
far from now?

A James, if you are paranoid then so am I. I bought a cover for my gas flat top barby
that almost reaches to the ground so my LPG bottle would be protected from the
direct sun.
Personally, I would not feel comfortable with a bottle that sat in the
summer sun for hours on end. But you see them all the time on the front and
back of caravans and camper trailers. And I guess they go across the
Nullarbor and trundle around Darwin and Alice Springs.
I guess it all boils down to what else you have to think about at 3am in the
morning.
